Memorial Day Weekend in Southwest Florida!

Memorial Day Weekend is a great time in Naples for locals to relax, and visit some hot spots with family and friends! Memorial Day commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service, and however we choose to celebrate Memorial Day in Naples Florida, remember to do so by honoring those who have lost their lives for our great freedoms.

There are plenty of great places to go and events to drop by while spending time with loved ones from Naples to Fort Myers! Homes and Land Brokers shares with you just a few of the spots we will be enjoying!

Friday Events!

Memorial Day Sidewalk Sale-10:00am-9:00pm at Miromar Outlets. Enjoy additional savings on already low factory outlet prices.

Friday Night Concert Series — 7-9 p.m. Miromar Outlets, 10801 Corkscrew Road,Estero, FL 33928. Enjoy the sounds of The Bill Colletti Music Group, combining jazz, Latin, dance, pop, rock, soul, disco, funk, Motown and country.

Pure Florida honors military with Memorial Day weekend cruises — 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m. Two locations: The Marina at Edison Ford, 2360 W. First St., Fort Myers, FL 33901, and Tin City, 1200 Fifth Ave. S., Naples, FL 34102. Pure Florida is honoring members of the U.S. military throughout Memorial Day weekend, offering free cruises May 27-30 for veterans and active duty service members when accompanied by paid adult or child admission. purefl.com.

Saturday, May 28th

Naples Winery-If you’re into wine, check out Naples Winery, located at the Tin City complex of shops and eateries (1200 Fifth Ave. S.) You’ll find a selection of wines and sangrias made with local fruit such as oranges, grapefruit, and key limes. More exotic offerings include a dry wine made from local tomatoes and a Florida dry blueberry wine that won a silver medal at the Indiana State Fair. Wines start at $16.99 a bottle, and tastings are complimentary!

Guided Historic Settlement Tour — 10-11:30 a.m. Koreshan State Historic Site, 3800 Corkscrew Road, Estero, FL 33928. Guided Tours are $2 for adults, $1 for children younger than 6. Explore the 19th century religious Koreshan settlement, its structures and gardens during guided walking tours every Saturday and Sunday. The walking tour is about an hour and a half. 992-0311.

Kids Cruise Free with Pure Florida — 10-11:30 a.m. In Fort Myers and Naples: The Marina at Edison Ford, 2360 W. First St., Fort Myers, FL 33901; Tin City, 1200 Fifth Ave. South, Naples. Pure Florida’s Kids Cruise Free program offers complimentary cruises for children every Saturday at 10 a.m. when accompanied by a paying adult. During the 1.5 hour cruise, kids learn about the Southwest Florida waterways, observe wildlife and participate in a sightseeing scavenger hunt. Reservations required. Adult tickets are $35 per person and additional child admission is $17.50. 919-2965 or 263-4949. purefl.com

Watermelon Festival — 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Fleamasters Music Hall, 4135 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Fort Myers. Free admission. Games, competition and watermelon. Sunday, May 29th

Family Fun Expo — 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Germain Arena, 11000 Everblades Parkway, Estero. $7 for adults, $4 for ages 3-12, free for ages 2 and younger. Free parking. Southwest Florida Parent & Child magazine and ABC-7 present the 2016 Family Fun Expo, where families enjoy children’s activities, carnival games, vendor exhibits, and back by popular demand, Thomas the Tank Engine. Inn on Fifth-Avenue Five’s executive chef, David Nelson, showcases both surf and turf dishes at the 7,000-square-foot restaurant, adjacent to the Inn on Fifth (699 Fifth Ave. S.). The Art Institute of Seattle graduate made a reputation at luxury establishments such as Four Seasons Downtown Seattle before moving to Naples. The chef has designed a menu at the restaurant with “fun, interesting food that matches the stylish ambiance and decor of this beautiful restaurant.” Menu items include a Maine lobster cocktail brightened with grapefruit and tangerine blast microgreens ($20).

Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th!

Memorial Day BBQ — 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The Shell Factory & Nature Park, 2787 N. Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers, FL 33903. Two-for-one admission to the Nature Park, putting contest, sack race, three-legged race, watermelon-eating contest, Hula Hoop contest. Memorial Day Ceremonies at the Military Museum — 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Southwest Florida Military Museum & Library, 4820 Leonard St., Cape Coral, FL 33904. Free admission. The day includes flag ceremonies, picnic lunch of hot dogs and burgers (small donation appreciated) 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the formal retirement of worn flags and various speakers.

Naples Beach Brewery–Naples Beach Brewery (4120 Enterprise Ave., Suite 115) is just a short drive from the city’s main Fifth Avenue shops and hotels. Southwest Florida’s first microbrewery produces beers on a 15-barrel, three-vessel system. There’s also a 132-gallon, three-vessel pilot system used for beer development. The taproom usually offers more than a dozen beach-themed varieties, including Latitude Adjustment IPA, Paddleboard pale ale, and Naples Classic golden ale. Fifteen bucks gets you a tasting cup and nine tasting tickets, good for a four-ounce pour each.
